This website includes information on the Commission and its various functions and activities. You may also learn about the various reports and legal changes that the Commission has been able to offer to the people of Fiji over the last 25 years of its existence. 


The About Us Section will give you background information on the Commission, how we work, the steps in the law reform process, and how you can participate in a law reform reference. It also has a full list of Chairpersons, Commissioners, Directors and Staff who have served the Commission, and the references undertaken.

Our Current Review Section will inform you of the laws that the Commission is currently reviewing, including the Terms of Reference, the consultation process and the progress on the review. These include the review of the Prisons Act and Subsidiary Legislation, Domestic Violence laws, Criminal laws and procedures and the review of the Mental Health laws.

Our Past Reviews Section will tell you about a few of the law reviews that the Commission has recently completed, such as the Family Law Review, the Liquor Act Review, the review of laws relating to Bribery and Corruption and the review of Wills and Succession Laws. There is a full list of all the research papers, Final Reports and Bills produced by the Commission in this section.

From the Publications Section you may learn more about the Commission by downloading archived Annual Reports, Newsletters, Reference Final Reports, Discussion Papers, Issues Papers and Bills published by the Commission. Notable recent publications now available for download from this site are the Final Report on Bribery and Corruption Laws tabled in Parliament in December 2004, the three Discussion Papers issued in September 2004 for the Domestic Violence review and the four Issues Papers published in March 2004 for the review of the Prisons Act.

The Commission's newsletter, Qolilawa Darpan was revived in May 2004, and the latest issue is Number 11 of September 2005, available now for download. This includes more current information on the Commission's activities, current reviews, ongoing work on the implementation of previous reviews and up to date information on other Commission events.

The Commission hopes to eventually place all its publications in the public domain online. However, the digitisation of the Commission's publications is an ongoing process and reports and papers will be placed online as the project continues.

   Public Consultations Review of the Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code
Date: October 25 - November 11,2006
Venue: The Central Division kickstarts the consultations in Suva,Nausori,Sigatoka and then to the Western Division in Nadi, Lautoka,Ba,Tavua and across the seas to the Northern Division in Taveuni,Savusavu and Labasa.
   Review of the Penal Code and Criminal Procedure Code Workshops
Date: September 18th - 22nd ,2006
Venue: The workshops is earmarked for Suva on two full days from Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st September, 2006. A third day workshop is planned for the Western Division on Friday 22nd,September,2006.
